Viñales: “We gained a lot of information”

It’s all good up top for the Championship leader on Day 1 in the Netherlands

Tenth wasn’t what the points leader wanted in Barcelona, but it was back to the business end as actioned opened at the TT Circuit Assen for Maverick Viñales (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) after the rider from Roses dominated in FP2 to go top overall. Putting in the mileage to narrow down tyre choices, the outlook is looking good for the 2013 Moto3™ World Champion for a weekend on which he intends to attack.

Maverick Viñales, P1: “It was good. We wanted to try many laps to compare the tyres, especially the softs, to see if they’re good to last the whole race. We will see if they have good potential and check tomorrow - especially in FP4 where it will be hotter - which is the good tyre for the race. I feel good; it’s a track I like, the bike is feeling good. Already from the morning we have a good setup, so this afternoon we gained a lot of information, especially for the qualifying and practice. We are discussing things, but the bike is good. As I always said, when we have grip, the bike is really nice to ride. Today was easy, good to control, and it’s good to feel good again.”
