Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati Team) shone in the wet conditions of FP1 at Brno, leading the way for some time before ending the session in third and only a tenth off the top. Because of the weather, the paddock was left waiting – knowing the Borgo Panigale factory were waiting for dry weather to debut a new fairing.

When the covers came off, it didn’t disappoint. The radical new aero fairing was immediately taken out on track by Lorenzo – and the five-time World Champion says it’s an improvement overall, despite obvious compromises in straight-line speed.

He went quicker with the fairing, and ended the day in P15 overall.
Jorge Lorenzo, P15: “It was a really positive day. In the morning we were really fast in the wet and it was the best feeling I’ve had in the wet with the Ducati. In the afternoon, it was an important session: we tried the new fairing that puts more weight on the front tyre, one of the two problems I’ve had until now. In general it was better: evidently there are negatives, we lose on the straight. It was a great test, we have to try different settings to see if we can make a big step forward.”
