MotoE™ Teams announced

Preparations underway for the debut of the FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup, which begins in 2019

The debut of the FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup is now just over a year away and at the season opener for the 2018 MotoGP™ World Championship at Losail in Qatar, the first groundwork for the new Cup has been laid in a briefing for representatives from the teams who will be taking part in the inaugural season - a first Constituent Meeting.

The MotoE™ teams competing are the following: Tech 3 Racing, LCR Team, Marc VDS Racing Team, Pramac Racing, Angel Nieto Team, Esponsorama Avintia Racing, Gresini Racing, Sky Racing Team VR46, Pons Racing, Dynavolt Intact GP and SIC58 Squadra Corse. With a wealth of experience from the MotoGP™ World Championship in all classes, the competition is set up to showcase the best of the Cup from the off.

Cup director Nicolas Goubert led proceedings, and he was joined by Dorna Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta, Dorna Sports Managing Directors Manel Arroyo and Pau Serracanta, Manager of Sporting Direction Carlos Ezpeleta and IRTA CEO Mike Trimby.

“We had the first meeting with all the teams who will be competing next year in MotoE,” explains Cup Director Goubert. “There will be 11 teams, running 18 bikes. All the bikes will be Energica bikes, the same, so it will be a Cup. We will have five rounds next year in Europe. We haven’t yet decided on the tracks we’ll be going to, but as I said it was a kick off meeting so all things have to be put in place. Basically, it starts now. It was important to see all the teams because now they have enough information to get organised; to start looking at the riders they’ll have and look at the crew they’ll have.”

The Energica electric bike will first be in action as part of the MotoGP™ World Championship this season, with a demo lap planned for each Grand Prix weekend. The first will be ridden by MotoGP™ commentator and 500GP winner Simon Crafar, and is set to take place on Sunday at the Qatar GP.
