Aegerter out for Jerez with broken pelvis

Dominique Aegerter will miss the Jerez round after suffering a cracked pelvis in an accident during enduro training and is set to undergo an operation.

The Kiefer Racing KTM rider sustained the pelvis injury training near his home in Switzerland and was transported to hospital in Bern where it was confirmed the 27-year-old had cracked his pelvis.

The former Moto2 race winner will miss the Jerez round next weekend, while his recovery timetable could see him miss further rounds with the French event at Le Mans less than a month away, and is set to have surgery on his pelvis in the next two days.

Aegerter avoided a displacement of the fracture as well as any further injuries and the surgery will be completed to speed up his recovery.

Aegerter has enjoyed a solid start to the 2018 Moto2 campaign with three points finishes in the opening three rounds including the highlight of eighth place in Argentina and he sits 10th in the riders’ championship.

The Swiss rider endured a tough task making the 2018 Moto2 grid having crowd funded to boost the Kiefer Racing team budget for the season.
