Bradl to replace injured Morbidelli at the Sachsenring

HRC test rider gets the call up to EG 0,0 Marc VDS

Stefan Bradl will be racing in his home GP at the Sachsenring this weekend, with the HRC test rider called in to replace injured Franco Morbidelli at EG 0,0 Marc VDS. Morbidelli crashed last time out and damaged his hand and despite taking part in FP1, has now decided he won't be able to compete in the rest of the race weekend.

Bradl, a former premier class podium finisher and current HRC test rider, as well as having also started from the front row at the Sachsenring in 2014, therefore steps in for the rest of his home GP weekend.

"I wish Franco the best and that he’ll be back in Brno," commented the German rider. "HRC called me last weekend, incase there would be the possibility to see if would I be ready. I said yes, I will be there anyway so… After FP1, Alberto called me and said “if you want, you can jump on the bike.” It’s really last minute and a big surprise for me but it’s great because it’s the German GP. I love to be here. It’s good to get the comeback like this."

Bradl continued: "I was prepared, I took all my equipment from home and, well, it’s really last minute so I just took my bag and everything from the car and now we have to organise everything, sit down with the guys. It’s nice because Diego, the Crew Chief, I know him from Aprilia, so it’s not that bad. Also, I have some HRC technicians that I was working for last time I was working on the bike, so I know the people quite well and so this was another reason I said ‘hey I have nothing to lose’ and I’ll try to enjoy myself and do a good job for HRC and help develop the bike for the future."
