Marini heads tightly packed Moto2™ field in FP3

The Italian shot to top of the timesheets on his final run to lead Lowes and Schroetter into qualifying

Luca Marini (SKY Racing Team VR46) topped the Moto2™ Saturday morning timesheets at the Pramac Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, with Sam Lowes (Swiss Innovative Investors) in second and home rider Marcel Schroetter (Dynavolt Intact GP) inside the top three ahead of qualifying this afternoon.

The session saw a host of crashes, with Alex Marquez (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) and Iker Lecuona (Swiss Innovative Investors) both going down heavily at Turn 8, with Lecuona heading to the medical centre for a check-up. Elsewhere, there were crashes for Mattia Pasini (Italtrans Racing Team) and Stefano Manzi (Forward Racing Team) at Turn 3, with Eric Granado (Forward Racing Team) and Lorenzo Baldassarri (Pons HP40) sliding out at Turn 1. This was all before the Red Flag was waved after Steven Odendaal’s (NTS RW Racing GP) bike broke a section of the air fence with under 10 minutes remaining - riders ok.

The top ten are covered by less than half a second, so qualifying at 15:05 local time (GMT +2) looks set to be a thriller.
