Viñales and Rins into Q2 shootout

The two Spaniards safely negotiate Q1 and will battle for pole position

Maverick Viñales (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) set a 1:55.538 to top Q1 at the Monster Energy Grand Prix České republiky and will fight for pole position in Brno, beating fellow Spaniard Alex Rins (Team Suzuki Ecstar) by 0.314 as both safely negotiate the first part of qualifying.

Both Alvaro Bautista (Angel Nieto Team) and Jack Miller (Alma Pramac Racing) looked like they could make it into the top two, but both crashed while on threatening laps – riders ok.

Scott Redding (Aprilia Racing Team Gresini) crashed early at Turn 1, with teammate Aleix Espargaro running on into the gravel after setting a red first sector. Home rider Karel Abraham (Angel Nieto Team) also crashed – rider ok.

Q2 is next, who will take pole position?
