One of the most notable changes is Maverick Viñales (Yamaha Factory Racing) switching from number 25 to number 12 for the 2019 season. Meanwhile, two of the rookies will have to use different numbers to what they used in 2018: Moto2™ World Champion Francesco Bagnaia (Alma Pramac Racing) goes with the 63 plate after using the number 42 in the intermediate class, with Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Tech 3) going for the number 88, 44 his traditional number.

Elsewhere, a new-look team and a brand-new team join the premier class grid and their team names have been revealed. Monster Yamaha Tech 3 become Red Bull KTM Tech 3, with Petronas Yamaha SRT the name for the new Independent Team Yamaha garage.
