Iannone out of Spanish GP after FP4 crash

The Italian was declared unfit after a medical check on Sunday morning

Aprilia Racing Team Gresini’s Andrea Iannone will miss the Gran Premio Red Bull de España following a crash in Saturday’s FP4 session. The Italian had a fast accident at Turn 11 and after a medical check on Sunday morning was declared unfit.

Aprilia Racing CEO, Massimo Rivola, is confident nothing is broken in the left leg of Iannone, but The Maniac will require further checks for a full diagnosis of this injury.

Massimo Rivola

“It was a big crash, but nothing is broken. No warm up and no race for him after the morning medical check. We don’t know exactly the diagnosis of his problem and we will have to do more analysis.”

Aprilia will participate in Monday’s MotoGP™ test but it is yet unknown if Iannone will join teammate Aleix Espargaro and test rider Bradley Smith: “Tomorrow, we want to get on track with two official riders. We have a lot of new parts. We have a new chassis and lots of electronics set-ups to try.”
