MotoGP™ welcomes Eclat Media Group as Asian media partner

Eclat Media Group and their channels SPOTV and SPOTV2 will broadcast MotoGP™ from 2021 to 2026, covering more than 15 territories

Dorna Sports is delighted to announce a new long-term agreement with the Eclat Media Group for the exclusive broadcast rights to the FIM MotoGP™ World Championship from October 2021 until the end of 2026, and the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship from 2022 to 2026. This new deal, covering more than five seasons, will secure coverage for MotoGP™ and WorldSBK fans across more than 15 territories in South East Asia.

The agreement includes both the exclusive pay and free-to-air broadcast and digital rights for MotoGP™ in the Republic of Korea, Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Hong Kong, Laos, Macau, Mongolia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Vietnam, as well as Grand Prix host nations Malaysia and Thailand, and pay TV rights for MotoGP™ in Indonesia.

Eclat is expanding its presence across South East Asia, with MotoGP™ set to play a starring role. It will start offering its linear channels SPOTV and SPOTV2 through partners across the region and expand its OTT streaming platform SPOTV NOW from the Republic of Korea across much of the continent. MotoGP™ makes for a perfect mutually-beneficial acquisition given its status as a highly-attractive popular property – with three Grands Prix to take place in the region in Thailand, Malaysia and, subject to homologation, Indonesia.

SPOTV channels will also start airing WorldSBK as the agreement includes the exclusive rights for the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, starting in 2022. Every WorldSBK race is guaranteed to be shown live, with coverage also provided for the WorldSSP and WorldSSP300 categories on OTT service SPOTV NOW.

Eclat Media Group, with SPOTV channels, will also prove a committed and experienced partner for Dorna Sports in establishing a wider fanbase for motorcycle racing in the Republic of Korea, and across the fast-growing South East Asian region and global market.

On-site production & promotion:
A team from Eclat will attend Grands Prix to enhance the media experience for fans by producing tailor-made content for its programming, as well as to create a wide range of social media content in order to promote the sport across its territories. Eclat will have a comprehensive on-site set up to be reporting live at the Grands Prix and South East Asia WorldSBK rounds for their live programmes.

With a digital viewership of more than 1.6 billion last year in the Republic of Korea alone, SPOTV are experts at building brand awareness and the Eclat Media Group will become a vital partner in the promotion and distribution of motorcycle racing across South East Asia – using cross promotion, guest commentators, content collaboration and more, including localised, native language promotion aimed at maximising fan interest and engagement.

Mitchell Hong, CEO, Eclat Media Group: "For us, MotoGP and WorldSBK stand for thrills and exhilaration and is the best way to commence our growth into Southeast Asia. So, it is my great pleasure to announce the start of our partnership with Dorna. We are also full of anticipation at the opportunity to work together to bring these incredible events to Korean fans. Together, we can truly raise the bar for sports fans in Asia."

Manel Arroyo, Chief Commercial Officer, Dorna Sports: "We are very proud to begin this new, exciting partnership with Eclat. South East Asia is one of the most vital markets for motorcycle racing, with an incredible passion for the sport in many countries. There are also new markets in which we see incredible scope for growth, and we’re delighted to partner with Eclat not only to provide proven, top quality coverage, but also to begin creating new fanbases and bringing MotoGP and WorldSBK to even bigger audiences. This agreement begins a new era for us in South East Asia, built on collaboration and our shared goal of taking the sport to new heights."
